Cholangiohepatocarcinoma as a second primary tumor
Abstract
Fundament: Cholangiohepatocarcinoma is considered as an independent entity, they are rare mixed tumors that share characteristics with hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinomas Hepatocellular carcinoma is the fourth cause of mortality for cancer around the world; typically it arises at a zone of hepatic chronic inflammation and fibrosis. Cholangiocarcinomas are a group of neoplasms that appear on any part of biliary tract.
Objective: To introduce a clinical case of a Cholangiohepatocarcinoma as a second primary tumor in a patient treated in Oncology Service of III Congreso.
Clinical case: A 68-year-old, male, white patient, who had the diagnosis of epidermoid carcinoma of the larynx on 2006, was treated with Radiotherapy with curative intention. At the present, on medical interview, by a routinely abdominal ultrasound is identified a hepatic tumor that was diagnosed as a cholangiohepatocarcinoma. The patient received surgery and systemic treatment later.
Conclusions: This case record provides information about this neoplasm, because there are few documented and studied cases on our country. Surgery and Later Systemic Treatment are extremely important as therapeutic weapons in this case.
